Leonard Delaney, 51, of Cincinnati, is accused of rape

on May 4 in Monroe.
MONROE — A Cincinnati man remained in the Butler County Jail on Wednesday, accused of raping a developmentally disabled co-worker at Cincinnati Premium Outlets mall in on May 4.

Police said it was the first rape at the new mall just off Interstate 75, along the Warren-Butler county line in Monroe.

Leonard Delaney, 51, is accused of raping a woman, 22, of West Chester about 4 p.m., May 4, in a back room of the mall, according to police.

Delaney, a supervisor of the alleged victim, was arrested later that night while still working, according to Monroe police Detective Ken Parson.

Both Delaney and the woman work for ABM Janitorial Service, although the woman receives services through Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Parson said.

Delaney told police the sex was consensual, Parson said.

According to Ohio law, due to her disabilities, “she’s not able to consent,” Parson said.

Parson said it was the first rape alleged to have occurred at the mall which opened in August 2009.

Delaney is being held on a $100,000 bond.

He is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing Thursday in Lebanon Municipal Court.

The charge carries between a three to 10-year prison sentence.
